It has been one year since the S&P 500 reached its pandemic low of 2191, as the -35% correction in the benchmark equity index came alongside the Fed’s emergency rate cuts, crisis level measures, and first financial crisis since the 2008-2009 episode. Since then, the >80% improvement in domestic equities has driven risk assets to new all-time highs as a function of not only the unprecedented amount of stimulus in the system, but also a rapidly improving outlook on the ability of the economy to reverse the damage done by the pandemic.
